Easter in The Hudson Valley, New York.

It was the Easter Weekend and Jonathan, Jasmin and I rented a car and drove upstate to the fabulous Hudson Valley for our first roadtrip together. It was my first roadtrip and I assure you, it will not be the last.
The drive along the river affords an amazing view in spite of the bare trees and visible rocky hillside. You can see the Hudson Rives snaking its way down to the city from the mountains as you drive.
In spite of the freezing weather, we managed to have a good time and even had two hikes. The plan now is to do it in the summer when we won't have to be as wrapped up as we were, or in other words, we will be free to enjoy the countryside with a pile of clothing on us.

Spring is here...summer is next

Just a few pictures of us after church in Central Park. The weather was fabulous, the trees are blooming and people are out in their numbers. You could see numerous runners, joggers, cyclists, those on rollerblades and of course the families and couples taking advantage of the warmth.
Central Park is a few minutes walk from our church and this coming Sunday we are planning to have a picnic after our service. Hopefully the rain won't have the need to make an appearance then.
One of the pictures is a view of New York City from the building Jasmin lives at in Brooklyn.

STRESS and more STRESS...laugh it off!

My second semester is quickly coming to an end and the stress is increasing daily. Its hard not to get bogged down with al the things you HAVE to, all the things you WANT to do and all the things you are REQUIRED to do.
Finding the BALANCE is the KEY and laughter is definitely a part of it. Here are some funnies for you to laugh along with me.

Trini's In Heaven

You may not think this is funny but I can't help that since I am not responsible for your sense of humor.

my children. If you really want to know about problems, let's call up
the
Devil". The devil answered the phone,

Molly's Visit to New York.

Here are some pictures of My first sister Molly visiting NY for the first time. We had a good time just hanging out some days and more days shoping at the Garden State Shopping Center in New Jersey and Macys.
While in Macy's we took some time to check their Easter Flower Show and get some pics as well. I will post those in another time as I don't have them yet but here are some of us together with Jon
You can tell from some of them that it was freezing but we did have a good time in Central Park, Times Square and dinner in The Olive Garden.

Retirement Can Be Sweet!

All you need is the right job and you can have a fabulous sendoff, like this guy.

It was the mailman's last day on the job after 35 years of carrying the mail through all kinds of weather to the same neighborhood.

When he arrived at the first house on his route he was greeted by the whole family there who congratulated him and sent him on his way with a big gift envelope.
At the second house they presented him with a box of fine cigars. The folks at the third house handed him a selection of terrific fishing lures. At each of the houses along his route, he was met with congratulations, farewells, cards, and gifts.

At the final house he was met at the door by a strikingly beautiful blonde in a revealing negligee. She took him by the hand, gently led him through the door (which she closed behind him), and led him up the stairs to the bedroom where they had a most passionate liaison.

Afterwards, they went downstairs, where she fixed him a giant breakfast: eggs, potatoes, ham, sausage, blueberry waffles, and fresh-squeezed orange juice.
When he was truly satisfied she poured him a cup of steaming coffee. As she was pouring, he noticed a dollar bill sticking out from under the cup's bottom edge.
"All this was just too wonderful for words," he said, " but what's the dollar for?"

"Well," she said, "last night, I told my husband that today would be your last day, and that we should do something special for you. I asked him what to give you."
He said, " Screw him.......give him a dollar."

The blonde then blushed and said, "The breakfast was my idea"

Thank you Arianna, for this 'blond' joke. It was too good to pass up and no offense to my blond friends, natural or artificial.

Summary Of Life?

GREAT TRUTHS THAT LITTLE CHILDREN HAVE LEARNED:

1) No matter how hard you try, you can't baptize cats.
2) When your Mum is mad at your Dad, don't let her brush your hair.
3) If your sister hits you, don't hit her back. They always catch the second person.
4) Never ask your 3-year old brother to hold a tomato.
5) You can't trust dogs to watch your food.
6) Don't sneeze when someone is cutting your hair.
7) Never hold a Dust-Buster and a cat at the same time.
8) You can't hide a piece of broccoli in a glass of milk.
9) Don't wear polka-dot underwear under white shorts.
10) The best place to be when you're sad is Grandpa's lap.

GREAT TRUTHS THAT ADULTS HAVE LEARNED:

1) Raising teenagers is like nailing jelly to a tree.
2) Wrinkles don't hurt.
3) Families are like fudge...mostly sweet, with a few nuts.
4) Today's mighty oak is just yesterday's nut that held its ground.
5) Laughing is good exercise. It's like jogging on the inside.
6) Middle age is when you choose your cereal for the fiber, not the toy.

GREAT TRUTHS ABOUT GROWING OLD

1) Growing old is mandatory; growing up is optional.
2) Forget the health food. I need all the preservatives I can get.
3) When you fall down, you wonder what else you can do while you're down there.
4) You're getting old when you get the same sensation from a rocking chair that you
once got from a roller coaster.
5) It's frustrating when you know all the answers but nobody bothers to ask you the questions.
6) Time may be a great healer, but it's a lousy beautician.
7) Wisdom comes with age, but sometimes age comes alone.

THE FOUR STAGES OF LIFE:

1) You believe in Santa Claus.
2) You don't believe in Santa Claus.
3) You are Santa Claus.
4) You look like Santa Claus.

SUCCESS:

At age 4 success is . . . not piddling in your pants.
At age 12 success is . . . having friends.
At age 17 success is . . .having a drivers licence.
At age 35 success is . . . having money.
At age 50 success is . . . having money.
At age 70 success is . . . having a drivers licence.
At age 75 success is . . . having friends.
At age 80 success is . . . not piddling in your pants.

Always remember to forget the troubles that pass your way;
BUT NEVER forget the blessings that come each day.
Have a wonderful day with many *smiles*

Take the time to live!!!
Life is too short. Dance!!

I thought this was cool and wanted you to have a look at it.

Happy Birthday Neisha!!

In honour of my very special friend Neisha Paul, I am posting these pic on my blog to celebrate her birthday in April. Neisha and I go way back to the time in Trinidad when we would all hang out and have cookouts at the back of my brother Rikki's house. Neisha was also a part of our youth group in church and we still remember all the fun we had with the youths and all the things we learned.
Those were the good old days but they did not stop there. We had even more fun living in London in the same house for almost two years. I don't have enough time to mention the places we visited and things we enjoyed as well as the food I cooked and bar-b-ques we had...you had to be there to know and lucky for those of you who were.
Thank you for the very special friendship we share and I know we will be friends for a long long time.

Ps. The pic of the guy is Pete the BF and the other is the house Neisha lives in that I share when I was there and the last is the view from the from of the house towards the River Thames and Canary Wharf

Its Spring Break! And April Fool's Day As Well!

I should be in some exotic vacation hotspot with tons of other students but alas, a unemployed student like me caannot afford such luxury.
Not to worry though, I have lots to be thankful for even if I could not visit Cancun with my friend Zoe. My time will come soon enough.
There is so much to do in NY even if you are poor and this weekend Jon, Jasmin and I will be taking either a road trip to one of the neighbouring states of a hiking trip upstate NY, maybe the Hudson Valley or somewhere around there. Should be great considering this could very well be my first Road Trip or my first hiking trip in more years than I can remember.
Apart from that, I have work to do for all five of my classes...I know, so much for Spring Break eh. I am trying to get it all done this week since my two oldest sibblings, Daryl and Moly will be in NY for a few days. I am looking forward to hanging out with them and doing some siteseeing. I have never really hung out with them together, at least not that I can remember. Will have lots of pics to post.
So much for that. Gotta run.
