"Give us this day...

Our daily bread, and forgive us or debts as we forgive our debtors..."

How to tell a true trini. RUM OR SUNBLOCK?

In case you did not know The Cricket World Cup is being held in the West Indies right now. You are not allowed to bring alcoholic drinks onto the grounds but this guy found a nice way to do it.
We trinis can be so resourceful when we want to.

Bubba is my kinda guy!!!

Each Friday night after work, Bubba would fire up his outdoor grill and
cook a venison steak. But all of Bubba's neighbors were Catholic....and
since it was Lent, they were forbidden from eating meat on Friday. The
delicious aroma from the grilled venison steaks was causing such a
problem for the Catholic faithful that they finally talked to their
priest.

The Priest came to visit Bubba and suggested that he become a Catholic.

After several classes and much study, Bubba attended Mass... and as the
priest sprinkled holy water over him, he said, "You were born a Baptist,
and raised a Baptist, but now you are a Catholic."

Bubba's neighbors were greatly relieved, until Friday night arrived, and
the wonderful aroma of grilled venison again filled the neighborhood.
The neighbors immediately called the Priest and as he rushed into
Bubba's yard clutching a rosary preparing to scold him, he stopped and
watched in amazement.

There stood Bubba, clutching a small bottle of holy water which he
carefully sprinkled over the grilling meat and chanted:

"You wuz born a deer, you wuz raised a deer, but now you is a catfish."

Friends and St Patrick's Day in NY

It was another weekend of activities in New York with St Patrick's Day, which for most people, is just another reason to go out and get drunk.
You must have at least one Guinness to celebrate the weekend. (I won't tell you how many I had)
Even though I was in Nothern Ireland for St patrick's Day 2006, my team (Kami, Abdullah and Joanne) were not interested in going out so we never really experienced a pub night to clebrate the famous saint.

This year however, was quite different. There was Jon, his brother Ethan and Jasmin so we all joined in the fun and had a few.

In NY you could see green everywhere (but on the trees) as people tried to be a bit patriotic for at least one day of the year.

Mind you, I joined in the Green as well but since I have been to Ireland, North and South, at least six times between 2004 and 2006 I feel I have earned the right. Not that anyone cares really. No we did not look at the parades, we were much too busy and besides, having some Guinness and wearing my Green Ireland t-shirt (that I bought in Dublin) was enough.

"Long live the Irish! May you live long enough to unite as one country, under one drink. Have a Guinness."

Scholarship Pictures

I know I should have posted these pictures sooner but as you know, I can be quite lazy about things like these sometimes.

Thank you all for all the good things you have said and for believing in me. It means a lot to me to know you believe in me and are always rooting for me.

The pictures are from when I recieved a certificate from my school, BMCC.

In the second picture you can see the Co-ordinator of the scholarship program Ms. Leppert, the Dean of Students Ms. Marva Craig, one of the Senior Vice Presidents Mr Wong and the President of the school, Dr. Perez.

I was pleasantly surprised to see the school make a big deal of handing out the scholarships and I am honored to be recognized. Look out for even greater achievements in the future.

"OUT IN TWO"...THE GREAT NEWS!!!!

EXTRA EXTRA READ ALL ABOUT IT...HE'S GOT IT, YOUR BABY HE'S GOT IT!!!!

Its a great Friday morning in NY! Its cold yes, but there is that bright beautiful sunshine that makes me feel as though I am back in Trinidad. Then I step out the door and reality hits! I am still in NY and its freezing.

But its still a great Friday because yours truly has just been awarded a SCHOLARSHIP! Can you believe that!

I have to say a special thanks to all of you who prayed and believed this could happen. A special thanks to my family for believeing in me, especially my sister Molly. All those years ago when you went to Wheaton College you thought of me and knew I could do this. You knew I had it in me to reach great heights and now here I am, on my way, living the dream that you helped to instill in me. Thank you very much.

The scholarship is called "Out In Two" and it is designed to assist students in graduating in two years, hence the name. Not that I planned to stay longer! I am so excited and I wish you were all here to celebrate but even though you're not, I am thinking of you.

Its a good day and even if you did not win something I am sure you have many things to be thankful for. Have a grea day, a great weekend and stay in touch.
